Although many people think that the reward training method is the more modern method of dog training, others believe that the reward dog training method dates before the leash and collar method. It has been thoughts that the reward training method was developed by early humans and this would be true likely for the priests of people who kept their animals as a form of worship. When you are thinking of the significance of the reward type of dog training, it is important that we can remember that the scientific study and applying of these methods is only around half the age as the leash and collar method.
Within the last 10-15 years, the reward dog training method has become more and more popular and many people are using this method instead as a result of that. Although, some people may have noticed that many trainers who practice the reward dog training method is that they seem to talk quite poorly about other trainers who choose to use a leash and collar type of training method. Some people may be against leash and collar training because they are not aggressive enough to incorporate any force at all while others have tried and failed. Either way, there is nothing that is really negative about either method except for the fact that each method takes time to accomplish your dog to be fully trained but it is well worth it at the end.
As well as stated before, the people using the leash and collar dog training method do the same but talk negative about the reward method. While some people believe that a dog should not be rewarded by doing the right thing, others just don’t understand how this style of training truly works. Both types of trainers usually do not fully understand how the other type of training method really works and this leads to both training methods to be against the other while both are just as good.
With reward training for your dog, the trainer will usually incorporate a food reward or another reward that benefit’s the dog such as a toy. Reward training is the only method that can train some of the dogs which have certain more complex styles of training. Reward training has proven to be the most effective way to teach many different types of police and military skills which includes: scent detection, tracking, and criminal apprehension. Also, reward training can be very beneficial when teaching obedience commands.
When it comes time to training your dog you need to choose a method that you would want to use and one that works best for you.
Depending on what you are planning on doing with your dog whether it be a pet or a guard dog it may change how aggressive your training is as a more aggressive form of training would not include giving rewards but rather the leash and collar method, at least for most people
